MIKE MARTINEZ - MANAGER

Mike Martinez is entering his 14 season as the Manager of the Salt Cats and serves as the club President. Formerly the Coach of the Eastern Collegiate Baseball League Syracuse Salt Cats, Coach Martinez brings over 28 years of Coaching experience to the team. Coach Martinez is a Graduate of Syracuse University with a BS and MS in Education.

In the 2019 season Coach Martinez became the winningest coach in the history of the NYCBL (205 wins) and continues to be the manager with most wins in the history of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.

Coach Martinez is a former player in the New York State League with the Sherman Park Phillies where he had looks by the Montreal Expos and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is a recently retired Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach at Solvay High School in Solvay, New York where he coached for 16 years. Coach Martinez also was an Assistant Varsity football coach at Solvay high school for 6 years. He also was an Assistant Varsity Football coach at Westhill High School. He was an instructor with the US Baseball Academy for several years.

Coach Martinez puts his players first and emphasizes education and wellness as a priority. Coach Martinez is a NYSPHSAA certified coach and is a former facilitator for the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame training team where he instructed in the certification for youth and scholastic football coaches. He is an active member of ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) Coach Martinez is married to Mary and has a son Micheal Jr. (NJCAA / SUNY OCC/Keuka College)and a daughter Catherine Marie / Cazenovia College. Coach Martinez is also involved with "Second Impact" an awareness and educational group who speak on Concussions and an Instructor with the US Baseball Academy.
