The Syracuse Salt Cats are thrilled to announce that our former player, Dan Fiorito — a standout summer Salt Cat in 2011-12, two-time New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star, and Division III All-American at Manhattanville College — has been named the first-base / Infield & Outfield coach for the New York Yankees.
(New York Post) : https://nypost.com/2025/11/10/sports/yankees-tap-in-house-candidate-dan-fiorito-as-new-first-base-coach/
Dan’s journey embodies what the Salt Cats stand for: determination, growth, and excellence. After shining with the Salt Cats in 2011 and 2012 and earning All Star and All-League honors, he continued his career with Manhattanville, signed with the Yankees organization after the summer 2012 season, played up to the Triple A level, and now steps into a key role at the Major League level.
He was also a Manager for the Hudson Valley Renegades A and Manager of the Year in the Eastern League for the Sommerset Patriots AA in 2022. Dan began his coaching career in the Pulaski Yankees (Rookie‑level affiliate of the New York Yankees) in 2017 as a defensive coach after his playing career ended in 2016. He was previously an infield / outfield coordinator with the Yankees.
Fiorito is expected to double as the Yankees’ infield coach, as Chapman did, and finish off the revamping of Manager Aaron's Boone’s staff heading into 2026.
We couldn’t be more proud to see one of our own reach this milestone. Congratulations, Dan — you’re an inspiration for all current and future Salt Cats!
